We are pleased to announce our Call for the OFP International Orchestral Program, a Creative Europe Project supported by the European Union.
 
Youth Musicians Empowerment Programme (YMEP) by Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa (OFP) aims to unlock the potential of Europe’s musical future. Over four transformative years (2025-2028), OFP’s visionary initiative celebrates the core values of Europe – dignity, freedom, equality, and democracy – through a groundbreaking musical journey. 
 
In this program, we have the great pleasure of inviting young musicians to join the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra and accompany us in the various programs we have throughout the year. The young musicians will have the opportunity to learn from our professional musicians and receive financial support, creating a pathway to empower their musical careers.

We are looking for orchestral musicians between the ages of 16-29 join our orchestral activities.
 
Applications are eligible from nationals or residents of the 40 countries participating in the Creative Europe programme, including all 27 EU Member States, the countries of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein), Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, Armenia, and Tunisia. 
 

Applications

A. These auditions are intended for the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, English Horn, Clarinet, Bass clarinet, Bassoon, Contrabasson, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Percussion, Tuba and Harp.

B. The candidates must include the link for the video on the application form.

C. The audition videos must start with the candidates’ names and be recorded in a single take.

D. The candidates must send YouTube, Vimeo or similar links.

E. The videos should have good quality (image and sound) and allow easy candidate recognition.

F. This call will be open all year round. You can submit your application at any time.

G. Submit your application using the following form.

Application requirements

A. A link to a youtube video containing the required excerpts and solo piece

B. A link to a cloud folder (dropbox or google drive) with the following documents: CV or resume, Bio, headshot, copy of your ID/passport. (If available, please include other relevant information like letter of interest, performance photos, letters of recommendation, prizes and awards, press articles.)

AUDITIONS REPERTOIRE

All candidates must perform:

  1. One movement (or part of a movement) of a free-choice concert or concertant piece (not more than 6 minutes)
  2. The obligatory orchestral excerpts for their respective instruments. The orchestral excerpts are available for download via the below link:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

A. The jury decision is irrevocable and unappealable.

B. The application for the auditions is free.

FINAL PROVISIONS

Participation in this competition implies the acceptance of all the articles of these Regulations.
Omissions herein shall be resolved by the jury.
