The Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off 2025 with exciting news – a Conducting Masterclass with our maestro Osvaldo Ferreira.
Osvaldo Ferreira has not only distinguished himself through his work with the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra, but he is also a renowned international conductor. His career includes conducting prestigious orchestras such as the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Rome Symphony Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, Prague Orchestra, Lodz Philharmonic, Silesian Philharmonic, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, Rhenish Radio Philharmonic, Porto National Orchestra, São Carlos National Theatre Orchestra, Vicenza Olympic Theatre Orchestra, Catalonia Orchestra, North Shore Orchestra (Chicago), Aspen Music Festival Orchestra (USA), and the National Orchestra of Venezuela, among others.
He was also an assistant to conductor Claudio Abbado in Salzburg and Berlin.

Applications
A. Registrations are open to all young Portuguese musicians, or foreign musicians, who are students or residents in European Union countries.
B. There is no age limit.
C. Registration must be completed via this LINK, following the provided instructions.
D. The registration must be submitted, containing all the required information, by January 20, 2025 (11:59 PM).
E. The training will consist of a total of 17 hours.
F. All participants will be able to attend all rehearsals of this OFP program.
G. Each Active Participant will prepare and conduct one of the seven movements of The Planets by G. Holst, which will be assigned and discussed during the first Online Theory Session.
H. La Valse by M. Ravel will be used solely for explanation purposes by maestro Osvaldo Ferreira; participants will not conduct this piece.
I. Active Participants are required to attend all sessions.
