As part of the “Capital Concelhia da Cultura” competition program, the Portuguese Philharmonic Academic Orchestra presents a captivating concert under the artistic and musical direction of maestro André Lousada, at the Conservatório de Música Terras de Santa Maria.

The program combines tradition, virtuosity, and contemporary creation. The iconic Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67, by Ludwig van Beethoven — a universal symbol of triumph and expressive power — contrasts with the classical elegance and solo brilliance of Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, performed by soloist Jorge Almeida.

The concert culminates with the world premiere of Ápice — Pulse of Our Land, a new work by composer Nuno Peixoto, specially commissioned for this occasion, evoking the vitality, identity, and cultural heartbeat of the region.
