Mission
Guiomar Silva
Discovery OFP is the educational arm of the orchestra. It endeavours to train new audiences of all ages, with the objective of promoting social cohesion and citizenship. It aims to work with all stakeholders whose interest is to develop a society based in educational and cultural values. Discovery OFP seeks to develop talents and to create lasting community relationships through art and culture.
Director of the Arrifana School Group in Santa Maria da Feira since 2004, Guiomar Silva has extensive experience in European projects, including, ERASMUS +, Comenius and Leonardo da Vinci, each funded by the European Commission. Whilst Ms.Silva was coordinating or partnering these projects, more than 100 teachers and students were able to participate in teaching-learning events, training courses, job shadowing or seminars, all of which have been part of European priorities since 2008.
Ms.Silva has a degree in Sports and Physical Education from FADEUP, University of Porto and has a Master’s degree from the same institution as well as a post-graduate degree in School Administration from the University of Minho and People Management from Porto Business School, University of Porto. She has participated in numerous national and international training courses and has been involved in several projects with the purpose of improving the public school system, always with the intention to prepare students for the 21st Century.
