Auditions - Orquestra Académica Filarmónica Portuguesa
APPLICATIONS
A. The Orquestra Académica Filarmónica Portuguesa (OaFP) auditions are intended for the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Percussion and Harp.
B. The applications are open to all young Portuguese musicians, international students or residents in Portugal.
C. The candidates must be between 16 and 24 years old (reference date – 31 December 2022).
D. The application must be done through this link following the auditions instructions.
E. Deadline for the application: 31 March 2022.
F. The auditions will be held in person or by video. The candidates will have to select the desired modality for the audition performance. After sending the application, the authorisation for any changes will only happen for force majeure.
G. The in-person auditions will take place in the following locations:
• Guarda (Conservatório da Guarda) – 03/03/2022
• Porto (Curso de Música Silva Monteiro) – 12/03/2022
• Lisboa (Academia de Música de Lisboa) – 20/03/2022
H. The candidates who choose to upload a video must include the link for the video on the application form. The deadline is 31 March 2022 (23h59).
1. The audition videos must start with the candidate’s name and be recorded in a single take.
2. The candidates must send YouTube; Vimeo or similar links (in private mode).
3. The videos should have a good quality (image and sound) and allow easy candidate recognition.
4. The links must be sent to the following e-mail: filarmonica.portuguesa@gmail.com.
REPERTOIRE TO BE PRESENTED
All candidates must perform a piece or the first movement of a free-choice concert and the obligatory orchestral excerpts for their respective instruments. The orchestral excerpts are available for download at:

JURY
For each family of instruments (Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion and Harp) the jury is composed of musicians of recognized artistic and professional merit.
NOTES
a) The results will be released on 15 of April.
b) The jury decision is irrevocable and unappealable.
c) The application for the auditions is free.
d) The candidates for more than one instrument must present the excerpts of the main instrument and, optionally, the excerpts of the secondary instrument (piccolo, English horn, clarinet in E flat, bass clarinet…).
e) All auditions must be held without piano accompaniment.
f) Considering the pandemic situation and its constraints, the choice of repertoires and orchestral staff can be conditioned, so the selected musicians may not be invited to perform the internship(s).
