Kateryna Nikolenko, Conductor [UA]
Kateryna Nikolenko is a Ukrainian conductor. She studied choral conducting at the Dnipro Music College (2016–2020) and orchestral conducting at the National Music Academy of Ukraine (NMAU) in Kyiv, where she is completing her bachelor’s degree. In 2024, she studied as an exchange student at the Cesare Pollini Conservatory in Padua, Italy.
She has worked with the Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of NMAU, the orchestra of the Padua Conservatory, and the National Ensemble of Soloists “Kyiv Kamerata.” As an assistant conductor to Nataliia Stets, she participated in the “ArtRazom” project.
Kateryna regularly collaborates with contemporary music ensembles, including Ukho Ensemble Kyiv and Ensemble24, conducting performances of works by Ukrainian, European and Canadian composers. She also produced and conducted the premiere staging of the opera “Viy” by Mykola Verykivsky and Stanisław Moniuszko’s opera “Halka”.
She has participated in masterclasses and seminars with Donato Renzetti, Miriam Němcová, Theodore Kuchar, Etienne Haan and Osvaldo Ferreira. In 2025, she took part in the 5th International Conducting Competition “Città di Brescia – Giancarlo Facchinetti,” working with the Dèdalo ensemble.
Kateryna is a member of the Student Scientific and Creative Society “Octopus”, where she also co-organized masterclasses for young conductors and moderated professional meetings. She is a co-founder of the theatrical group “Poluden.” In 2023, she received the Richard Wagner Scholarship and attended the Bayreuth Festival as a young artist. Since 2024, Kateryna also works with Open Opera Ukraine as a choir coordinator and administrator, assisting in organizing rehearsals, performances, and projects.
Kateryna focuses on symphonic and operatic conducting, with a particular interest in contemporary music and interdisciplinary projects.
