Sílvia Santos holds a degree in Music with a specialization in Instrument – Violin – from the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco. She also holds a master’s degree in Music Teaching, specializing in Instrument and Ensemble Music, from the same institution.
In 2004, she began her musical studies at the Academia de Música de Paços de Brandão, where she studied violin under Professor Alexandra Trindade using the Suzuki Method. She participated in several competitions, winning 1st prize at the Paços Premium National Competition in 2007 and 2011, and 1st prize at the Alto Minho String Instruments Competition in 2008, among others.
She attended various masterclasses with Augusto Trindade, Peter Stark, Ana Sofia Mota, Nuno Meira, Tiago Neto, Evandra Gonçalves, and in a quartet with Ana Beatriz Manzanilla and Andrew Fuller.
Silvia has worked with renowned conductors such as Peter Stark, Douglas Bostock, Tobias Gossman, Osvaldo Ferreira, Rui Pinheiro, Pedro Carneiro, Jan Wierzba, Julien Benichou, Cristóbal Soler, and Jean-Sébastien Béreau.
She has performed with various orchestras and currently collaborates with the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra and the Santa Maria da Feira Youth Symphony Orchestra and Band. As an orchestral musician, she has played in numerous concert halls, auditoriums, and festivals across Portugal, as well as at UNESCO in Paris and Philharmonie in Berlin.
Throughout her career, she has had the pleasure of performing alongside esteemed artists such as Ray Chen, Benedict Kloeckner, Tomohiro Hatta, Pavel Milyukov, Kristina Miller, Cristiana Oliveira, Pavel Gomziakov, Sarah Behrendt, Lisa Wedekind, Xutos & Pontapés, Aurea, Vasco Dantas, Bernardo Santos, Christian Oldenburg, Yang Liu, among others.
She is a violin teacher at the Academia de Música do Porto, the Conservatório de Música de Terras de Santa Maria, and the Escola de Música de Romariz.
