The highly acclaimed international musicians Kirill Troussov (violin), Benedict Kloeckner (cello), and Alexandra Troussova (piano) join the Orquestra Académica Filarmónica Portuguesa for a memorable concert, part of the Guarda Music Festival.
This concert will feature Ludwig van Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56 and Zoltán Kodály’s Dances of Galánta.
Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56, composed between 1803 and 1805, is a unique piece in the Austrian composer’s repertoire. It stands out for its use of three soloists — piano, violin, and cello — in dialogue with the orchestra. The work is notable for its three-movement structure: an Allegro that establishes the interplay between the soloists, a Largo with a lyrical and introspective character, and a Rondo alla polacca, which incorporates Polish dance rhythms, giving the piece a contagious vitality.
Zoltán Kodály’s Dances of Galánta is an orchestral suite composed in 1933. Inspired by the musical traditions of the Hungarian town of Galánta, where the composer spent part of his youth, the work pays tribute to the gypsy melodies and rhythms that shaped his musical upbringing. The dances are distinguished by their rich rhythmic and melodic textures, as well as their colorful orchestration, which evokes the festive and vibrant spirit of Hungarian folk music.
